Aftercare

How to properly care for your fresh tattoo — for fast, complication-free healing and a result that stays beautiful for years.

The first few hours

Leave the protective film or bandage on for the time I recommend (usually 2–6 hours, depending on the aftercare wrap used). Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your fresh tattoo.

Cleaning

Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, mild soap. Pat it dry with a clean disposable towel — don't rub. Repeat 2–3 times a day for the first few days.

Moisturizing

Apply a thin layer of a dedicated tattoo aftercare cream or a fragrance-free healing ointment. Less is more — too much cream clogs the pores and slows healing down.

What to avoid

No direct sunlight, tanning beds, swimming pools, saunas or baths for at least 2–3 weeks. Don't scratch or pick at any scabs — the tattoo heals from the inside out, and picking can pull out ink and cause scarring.

Healing time

Surface healing usually takes 2–3 weeks, while the deeper skin layers take up to 6 weeks to fully heal. Every skin heals at its own pace — mild redness, tightness and itching in the first few days are completely normal.
